Thrifty Finds - Auction Edition!

Two weekends ago my family, Kevin and I went to an auction. It'd been a little while since since we'd been to one so I was pretty excited, but not really expecting much since I didn't see anything in the preview pictures online. But I could not be happier with what we brought home! With just two new, small pieces of furniture I gave my living room a whole new look.

We snagged this gorgeous little hutch...thing.
(Is there a word for this type of furniture? A credenza? I'm definitely thinking that "little hutch thing" isn't correct. Haha)

I absolutely love this thing. It matches the look I'm trying to bring into the whole living room - skinny legs and dark wood! Plus it lets me display some of my favorite cameras without them getting dusty.

I'm actually quite surprised we won this one. I spotted it early in the day and expected it to go for a pretty penny, there was a large crowd and I know how people like to bid each other up just to prove a point. Hours later it still hadn't been brought to auction and the crowd was starting to clear so I saw a glimmer of hope. It was getting close to the time I knew it would go up when I started noticing this woman hovering over it. She was eating a burger off of it and after she finished her meal, she continued to just rub herself all over it. It was making me SO anxious, whether she was doing it intentionally or not. I seriously had to leave the room and let my dad bid on it for me because I was so stressed. Okay, seriously, auctions aren't my style. I prefer to walk into am area, pick what I want, look at the price tag and buy it. Waiting and waiting and waiting just for an item to possibly go above my price range is so stressful and disappointing. A few minutes later Kevin can and found me in another room of the auction house to tell me my dad won it for $10! Wahoooo!

We also got this beaut!
The speakers originally caught my attention and upon further inspection we found out it was a record player. (it closes up to look just like a little cabinet thing) Same story are before - I figured it would get pretty pricey so I didn't really plan on bringing it home but when no one was bidding except one person I realized we could jump in and grab it. ...And that is just what happened! We scored this baby for $15 which I'd say is pretty great. She needs a little work, probably just something small, but I am by no means skilled in figuring out what the heck is wrong with electronics. Luckily one of Kevin's friends is though so we're taking her over to him in hopes he can get this baby spinning again. I can't wait to listen to all my favorite records on it.

Do any of you guys go to auctions? What's your latest score?
xoxo
