what I wore - little black dress

the details
dress - thrifted then altered
sweater - c/o Glamour Kills (last year, it's currently on sale now!)
belt - came with another dress (from Target)

How amazing are these shoes?! I love shoes with cut outs and I definitely don't own enough orange. My wardrobe consists of mostly blues, purples and the like (seriously, over half of my dress collection is blue!) So orange is a nice challenge for me, I really had no idea what to wear them with other than a plain black dress. I think they'll look really great with a some of those sheer polka dotted socks I can't get enough of, a pair of shorts and a solid colored shirt. I can't wait to wear these all summer long.

Can I just talk about how much I love my hair right now? I get bored with blue and purple sometimes. It seems weird that I could get bored with such bright, fun hair but something about seeing it every day, seeing it when it's not done up all nice, having it not match things on a daily basis bothers me. But there is just something that keeps me buying the same colored dye and doing those darn colors over and over again. When I see pictures like these where the colors just look amazing I can't help but think "Yes, that was a good choice!". Sometime later this year I would like to venture back into other colors - red, orange, yellow, etc - but for now blue and purple have a rein on me!
While taking these pictures Kevin and I found a new trail to explore and take pictures on. It was kind of windy and cold out so there wasn't very many people at the park but I'm hoping that these trails stay empty and abandoned all year long so I can use them whenever I want without being watched. It has a magical looking entrance made from an opening between some trees. I love it.

Hope you're having an amazing Monday!

Weekly Nail

Supplies used;
Revlon Top Speed in Emerald
Essie Blanc
Seche Vite
Scotch Tape

I used The Beauty Department's genius idea of painting scotch tape then cutting it out to the shape I want and applying the piece of tape to my nail. I'm really excited to play with this idea more, I have so many ideas I want to try out. I seriously can't believe I didn't think of the tape idea, it's so simple.

Happy Sunday!

beach trash - on film

Here are some of the first photos from the oodles of film I shot while my digital camera was broken. I have a bunch of posts lined up with some of my favorite photos and they're organized by category (animals, split-cam pictures, etc.) So I'll start off with some photos of my most recent beach trash findings.

The last few times I've gone to the beach there has been significantly less trash. A collection like this would taken me a half an hour at most to gather but this took me a few trips to the beach to build up - which is great! I'm not sure what's going on whether other people are picking it up, or less stuff is washing up but I definitely approve. I really hope it stays like this and continues to improve.
For fear of turning into a hoarder I really try not to bring things home no matter how neat they are - because seriously, it's trash and I have no intention of ever doing anything with this stuff other than gathering it, laying it out, photographing it and throwing it away in a proper trash receptacle. Buuuut I could not resist bringing home the "B phase" and number "5" yellow...things. I'm not sure what they are but they remind me of that "BØ" thing (which you can see here) that I found a while back on the beach. I hope to find more of them in the future and maybe someday figure out what the heck that really are. But in the mean time they look great on my curiosity shelf.

Here are two behind the scenes photos...
Don't mind my grimace, it was really sunny out. I swear I don't just spend all my time grimacing at the beach.
You can find all my other beach trash posts here.

FF #154

Two words: YES, PLEASE. I love being cozy. I've been creating little nests for myself as long as I can recall. I remember taking off all the couch cushions, grabbing all the blankets and making a little area where I could just curl up and watch tv or play video games when I was a child (I've actually probably done it within the last year...)

This storage box with books on the front is possibly the best idea ever. What an awesome way to disguise clutter. I would love some to hide video games and board games in my entertainment center in one of these so it looks tidier.

This handmade raccoon mug is too cute! I love his little striped shirt.

Smitten with this gorgeous skirt. The length is perfect and so are those colors.

The signs from Sign Fail are so absolutely hilarious. I would love the "tiny grass is dreaming" sign for my front yard.

Ah! Look at this amazing vintage cat tea set. So so so sweet, they have the cutest faces.

Isn't this felt brooch amazing?!

It's been a long time since I've worn a skort but if I found one this cute thrifting I'd be alllll over it. Love how the polka dots are all different sizes.

Perhaps it's kind of weird to include shoes from my own vintage shop in my Friday Favorites but I seriously love these shoes!

Look at these bookmarks! I'm in the market for a bookmark (gosh, that sounds dumb especially because it's just a bookmark but I want the perfect one!) and this one is certainly a runner up.

Have a great Friday! I'm off to tackle my inbox, organize May's ads (there are still a few spaces left, if you're interested you can read more here!) and then relax!

glimpses of 1956

I get so annoyed with the ads in fashion magazines today.  That's when I even look at fashion magazines...which is very rarely.  So why is it I love the ads in old magazines?  Here are several glimpses of 1956--through its ads.
