Leap Day!

As you probably already know, I'm a long time fan of jumping pictures. I've got tons of them on my computer! In honor of this day that only happens once every four years I thought I'd share some of my favorite jumping pictures...
I also have some jumping fails! Like this one - cracking up over my face and my perfectly pointed hands.
Or this one of Elycia and I being super serious. (I also have a HILARIOUS one of Elycia and I jumping were you can see her butt, but I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate me posting that :P )
And, of course, one of my parents and I. I love my dad's squat and how my mom is on her tip toes!
Hope you're having an awesome day!

What Doctor Octopus Wore // Suuuuuupercat!

There's been quite some time since the last What Doctor Octopus wore post so we are beyond due for one. I've had these pictures stashed on my computer since October, I just kept forgetting about them. But after I ordered a whole slew of dress up clothes for Doc and even bought some supplies to make a really epic one (coming mid March!) I remembered I had these.

So, let me introduce you to Supercat! He can't fly but he does have the ability to melt hearts with those baby blues, make you evacuate a room with his malodorous gas and put you to sleep in a millisecond with his comforting purrs.

And, here is one where Supercat looks like he might have had too much to drink.
Embarrassing animal photos will forever be one my absolute favorite things!
Hope he put a smile on your face! He definitely brightens my day.
xoxo

As always, no kitties were harmed in the making of these photos. Doctor Octopus has no qualms with wearing clothes, is the most patient kitty ever and is always rewarded with lots of treats and snuggles (not that he doesn't get tons of those anyways!)

f/w 2012

I know everyone is getting in the mood for spring.  But the fall/winter 2012 collections have just been shown, and I just always love the palette and clothing of the cooler seasons.  Here are some of the looks that caught my eye.  All the photos are from Vogue.

Rodarte / via Vogue
Loved the retro looks and collars on the deep plum and mustard dresses (these were also shown in a deep red and cream).  The skirt on the last dress--gah!

Michael Kors / via
I don't really see myself as a Kors type (he makes me think of fake tans and furry boots), but if you're going to show plaid, lace, and fur collared coats, sir, I'm all over it!

Marc by Marc Jacobs / via
Unsurprisingly, this collection reminded me (in avery good way) of how I dressed (or aspired to dress) in the 1990s.  Great prints, love the boxy jacket, copper polka dots, boots with everything.  But the thing I love most, I think, is the plaid skirt, plain top, dark frames.

Ralph Lauren / via
Pant and fair isle sweater vests paired for the "at my country house" look.  The knickers are so cute.  I'd never wear them again (yes, I did, once...), but they look great on the model.

Burberry Prorsum / via
Love the print on that first dress, the striped skirts, and the bow belts.  Lovely coats, too.

A photo an hour // February 23rd

I came so close to missing out on doing February's photo an hour! February just kind of slipped by in the blink of an eye. Luckily I remembered last Thursday. So here is February 23rd, hour by hour...

7 am // starting the morning with a light workout and some stretches. Someone makes it hard to concentrate!
8 am // doing some blog planning for March.
9 am // finally showered, dressed and ready for the day!
10 am // some more blog planning while my co-worker takes a nap.
11 am // the tastiest lunch! baked potatoes smothered in butter, cheese, pepper and oregano with my favorite drink, chocolate milk!
12 pm // re-painting my nails and plotting future tutorials.
1 pm // looked at the couch beside me and found these two getting their snug on.
2 pm // baked some banana bread. the house now smells heavenly!
3 pm // checked the mail to find some stickers I ordered for Circus Bear Vintage orders.
4 pm // a quick dinner while I wait on Kevin to get home so we can head over to my parents.
5 pm // visiting with baby kitty, my mom's new (and first!) cat.
Isn't he the cutest?! I just want to squeeze him. His little legs are so short and stubby! He's a fabulous cat, especially for a first time cat mom. I should just be a personal cat picker-outer for a living.
6 pm //  stopped and "visited" with Zip, the family rooster on the way up to the garage
I say "visited" because you can't really visit with someone who hates you and tries to chase you, but only when no one else is out in the yard.
7 pm // family woodshop night, of course. That would be my brother, and his son on the scroll saw (it was his first time, and he did SO good!), my dad in the background at the lathe and Kevin at the other scroll saw.
And that was my day! Sweet and simple, just how I like them!

what I wore: to the orthodontist

the details;
shirt - thrifted / vintage
jumper - thrifted
tights - target
belt - thrifted
necklace - Extollo Jewelry
shoes - thrifted (originally from target then restyled by me)

Just something super casual I threw together to wear to the orthodontist. They normally comment on my strange fashion tastes. On this particular occasion my orthodontist said "Do you sew all of your own clothes?" with a sort of strange questioning face. I replied no, that I normally get them at the thrift store. He said something back along the lines of well you're always dressed really snazzy. I must admit I was kind of bummed that no one at the office noticed my tooth necklace though! I felt that it was a completely fitting place to show off my new necklace.

Well, I'm off! My mom just left, we had a day of watching TV, painting nails and moving furniture around. I have a brand new living room to make pretty now. I can't wait to finish it up and share photos!

post Oscar shop preview

I watched the Oscars last night (which you'll know if you follow my Twitter feed).  I love movies, but as years pass, I seem to get less enjoyment out of watching these award shows.  I do not think--based on the nominations and often, the winners--that they mean anything much at all.

I also can't say I was super inspired by any of the fashions I saw this year.  I can't recall being excited by any Oscar fashion since Michelle Williams wore that great saffron yellow gown, but I'm not really all that much into Oscar style glam anyway.  Still, it was cool to see the wins for Hugo and The Artist, two of the better films I saw this year (both of which have great period settings and costumes, as well).  I was also happy that The Shore won for best live action short film.  Andy and I saw all the live action shorts on Saturday; if you get a chance to see them, you should check them out.  (Tuba Atlantic was particularly good, also.)

Alright, enough about the silly awards ceremony.  Here's an epic preview of what's coming to the shop this week!
