Here's a little bit about the necklace; "This tiny vial contains a miniature world within. The glass vial is frosted at the top to create the effect of a foggy and misty woodland. Tiny grains of white sand rest at the bottom with blue and grey pebbles atop. The next layer is composed of very dark green moss, or specifically Old Man's Beard Lichen (Dolichousnea longissima), which I hand dyed and preserved. It is sealed with a cork and held with a gold-colored chain."

My name is Courtney Matzke and I run the new online shop, Woodii. Based in Seattle, Woodii features handmade, unique treasures as well as vintage and upcycled clothing. My background is in art history and book making but I’ve been interested in craft and art since I was a little girl. I am fascinated with the concept of perception, in particular with ideas of scale. From microscopic organisms to the expanse of the universe, I want to image and explore the possibilities. With my new line of terrarium necklaces, I have taken the basic elements of life on earth and miniaturized them, making it possible to carry the earth as a tiny pendant. While focusing on the imagination, I also believe that one’s spirit should be playful at heart. A girl should approach each day drawing from her limitless spirit while absorbing the beautiful world surrounding her. With cute and whimsical vintage pieces, one can reminisce about the the history and life of the woman who once owned each garment while also recycling and preventing further waste in our world. Offering items creative, natural, and feminine, Woodii is a shop which embodies my imagination and encourages others to explore their own.
